Who enjoys sex?
Who can define sex?
Who is present during sex?
How old do you feel when you have sex?
These questions can easily lead into a long discussion about shame, fear, anxiety, self-objectification, intimacy, history, pain and trauma. Take a look at the other sections on this site and make connections with how other behaviour link together.
As a sex therapist and trauma specialist these are core questions in my work. As a recovering addict, continually working with other recovering addicts, these questions form the core of the path to recovery.
Our experiences of ourselves as sexual beings can start far too early, can start violently, can be linked to major boundary violations on the part of our primary carers, friends and relatives, those in authority over us, and as an adult easily take us into more painful experiences.
I work with negative sexual history, briefly during the MAP training, and in depth in other workshops. Sign up to my newsletter or visit my personal website for an up-to-date list of what is coming up.
